A Hard Fought Ship – The Story of HMS Venomous

Baird Maritime

By Robert J Moore and John A Rodgaard

From Baird Maritime:

Fortunately, many of the officers and sailors involved with HMS 'Venomous' during its exciting and effective career were able to take photographs or create sketches and paintings of the little destroyer.

One of a class of 69 ships built at the end of World War One, 'Venomous' had a hyperactive life until her scrapping in 1948. She saw action in skirmishes and World Wars from the Baltic, through the North Sea, Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

'Venomous' certainly was a "hard fought ship" and a hard working ship. She and her crews gave excellent value for money to the British taxpayer.

This kind of very well illustrated record of the life of a warship is unfortunately, very rare. It is, for that, all the more valuable.
