A Greek Ro-Pax that has been stationary for over a year has taken on water before listing heavily and partially sinking at the port of Piraeus, Greece.

Five tugs were sent to assist the vessel, the 'Panagia Tinou', and the vessel has now been stabilised, according to local news sources.

The Hellenic Coast Guard said the port's pollution response plan was implemented when the listing began – divers were sent into the area to assess the situation, but no pollution was reported.

The 5,500-tonne 'Panagia Tinou' was seized in 2015 due financial problems regarding the crews' pay local news sources said.

The vessel was owned by Ventouris Sea Lines, a ferry and cruise operator based in Piraeus.
