Viking Line adds summer sailings on Helsinki–Tallinn route ahead of record season

Finnish ferry operator Viking Line is increasing service on its Helsinki–Tallinn route in anticipation of another high-demand summer travel season, with three Ro-Pax ferries scheduled to operate daily crossings between June 18 and August 10.

The company will deploy Viking Cinderella and Gabriella, ships typically used on the Stockholm route, to supplement Viking XPRS during the peak holiday period. On Fridays, a fourth daily departure will be added.

Viking Line carried 732,000 passengers between Helsinki and Tallinn last summer, marking a record for the route. The company expects similarly strong demand this year.

“Many departures are already sold out, even though tickets are usually booked at the last minute,” said Viking Line Commercial Director Minna Tuorila in a statement. "We recommend that people book well in advance if they want to travel on a specific day or take their car with them.”

Estonia remains the most popular international destination for Finnish summer travellers, according to Viking Line, with domestic tourism trends favouring shorter, more affordable trips.

Viking Line also anticipates a rise in international visitors this season, citing increased air traffic to Finland from the United States and Japan.
