Ferry operator Stena Line announced it intends to withdraw its Rosslare to Cherbourg service from September 30, 2025. The last sailing on the route will depart Cherbourg on September 29.
The company stated the decision was made after a strategic route review and is part of a plan to strengthen its investment in its Irish Sea network and make more efficient use of its resources.
Johan Edelman, a Stena Line Trade Director, said the company has met with its employees and will consult with any individuals affected by the route closure, including considering redeployment opportunities. He added that the customer service team will assist customers who have travel booked after the closing date.
Stena Line noted it is "strengthening" its Irish Sea network with other investments, including almost £40 million in its Liverpool and Belfast terminals. The company also plans to add two new freight vessels on its Belfast–Heysham route and an additional freight vessel on the Dublin–Liverpool route.
