Molslinjen’s new electric ferry Nerthus has arrived in Kalundborg following a nearly three-week voyage from Turkey. The vessel is now undergoing final preparations ahead of its planned entry into service on 16 June.

Originally intended for the Alslinjen route between Bøjden and Fynshav, Nerthus will instead operate on the Samsølinjen between Ballen and Kalundborg due to delays in the delivery of its sister ship Tyrfing. The reassignment is intended to meet the seasonal increase in traffic to Samsø.

"Traffic on the Samsø route increases significantly in the summer," said Molslinjen CEO Kristian Durhuus. "We and Samsø need the capacity that a larger electric ferry provides."

Molslinjen has said the ferry’s arrival triggers an intensive outfitting and inspection period. Tasks include final technical preparations, crew training, and required safety drills and certifications before Nerthus can begin commercial operations.

The electric ferry is scheduled to begin service with a departure from Ballen on the morning of June 16.
