DFDS will strengthen its Rosslare–Dunkirk route this September with the addition of two extra weekly round trips.
The third vessel will join Athena Seaways and Victoria Seaways, which already operate on the route.
Growing demand for direct transport links between Ireland and continental Europe continues to drive the need for additional capacity. To meet this demand, DFDS is expanding its schedule to offer a total of seven weekly round trips, providing greater flexibility for freight haulers and more travel options for holidaymakers seeking convenient, direct access to mainland Europe.
"We are committed to supporting Ireland’s freight economy and enhancing connectivity between Ireland and continental Europe," said Owen Hides, Route Director, DFDS. "Bringing a third vessel into service on this route will strengthen our offering, providing more capacity, improved schedule choice, and the reliability our customers expect."
Passenger volumes along the route have also risen steadily, with more Irish travellers opting for direct routes to France and enjoy a smooth journey to destinations across mainland Europe.
DFDS said the route enables passengers to bring their own vehicles, making it an ideal choice for families, touring travellers, and those planning extended holidays across France, Belgium, Germany, and beyond.
