South Korea's PanStar begins operational sailings of new luxury cruise ferry

South Korea's PanStar Group has commenced operational sailings of a new luxury cruise ferry, which the company said is the first vessel of its kind to be built in the country.

PanStar Miracle was built by Daesun Shipbuilding and Engineering. For its inaugural voyage, the ferry departed Busan Port International Passenger Terminal on the afternoon (local time) of Sunday, April 13, and set sail for Osaka, Japan.

New ice-capable ferry starts sea trials in Russia

Krasnaya Kuznitsa, a company under Russia's state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation, has begun conducting sea trials of one of two new ferries in a series for operation between the cities of Arkhangelsk and Onega.

The construction contract for Onega (pictured) and sister vessel Solvychegodsk was awarded in December 2021. Co-financing is provided by the Russian Government through the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Meyer Werft hands over new cruise ship Asuka III to NYK Cruises

NYK Cruises took delivery of the Asuka III Thursday, a new 740-guest cruise ship built by Meyer Werft that will offer cruises from various ports in Japan.

During its first season, the ship will call at over 30 destinations throughout the country, including Hakodate, Otaru, Takamatsu, Shingu, Muroran and Moji.

MSC Cruises' newest LNG-fuelled ship formally named

MSC Cruises christened its newest flagship, MSC World America, in a ceremony at the line’s new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal on Wednesday, April 9.

Built by French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique, MSC World America is the 23rd ship in MSC Cruises' modern fleet and is also the third LNG-fuelled ship to be acquired by the company. It is a sister of MSC World Europa, which was delivered in 2022.

First steel cut for Carnival Cruise Lines' newest 6,400-guest ship

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft has cut the first steel to be used in the construction of Carnival Festivale, a new ship ordered from the company by US-based Carnival Corporation for its Carnival Cruise Line brand.

Carnival Festivale will be Carnival’s fourth Excel-class ship to be powered by LNG. With an expected gross tonnage of 180,000 upon completion, the ship will be able to accommodate up to 6,400 guests.
