Macduff Shipyards complete new fishing vessel

United Kingdom: Macduff Shipyards has just completed a fishing vessel – 'Golden Sceptre' – for JJR Fishing of Peterhead, which will be under the command of brothers James and Andrew West.

The vessel will operate out of Peterhead through Peter and J Johnstone.

This vessel, measuring 21.22 metres by 7.0 metres is similar to 'Rebecca' FR143, and 'Fruitful Vine' BF240, with refinements to suit the owner's requirements.

The hull form is double chine, with a deep box keel for ballast. The stem is well raked forward over an extended bulbous bow.

Macduff Profilers, a division of Macduff Shipyards, cut the steel kit from cutting information supplied by Macduff Ship Design and the hull was fabricated in Macduff, and fully fitted out under cover.

The main engine is a Mitsubishi S6R2 MPTK rated 479kW at 1350rpm with a Reintjes WAF374 reverse reduction gearbox with 6.12:1 reduction ratio, driving a 1900mm diameter 4 blade Kort propeller on a Kort XL nozzle.

A Mitsubishi 6D24TC variable speed auxiliary engine is fitted in the port side, and is arranged to drive the hydraulic pumps for the deck machinery. This engine is heat exchanger cooled. Two Mitsubishi 6D16T 91kw 415/3/50 generator sets were fitted on the starboard side.

The main engine and the two generator sets are keel cooled with grid coolers supplied by Kort Propulsion. The Mitsubishi engines were supplied by Macduff Diesels, while the sterngear is manufactured by the yard and is fitted with Deep Sea Seals.
