The government of the Russian city of Cherepovets, through its Committee for Property Management, has awarded local shipyard Paritet Tsentr a contract for the construction of a new catamaran commuter ferry that can also be used for sightseeing trips.
The vessel will be built in fulfilment of a RUB535 million (US$6.7 million) contract. Delivery to the customer is scheduled for no later than December 1, 2026.
The vessel will belong to the Project 1100H series of all-aluminium electric catamaran ferries designed by local naval architecture firm Sea Tech for operation in inland waters.
Upon completion, the vessel will have an LOA of 32.3 metres, a beam of 9.9 metres, a draught of only 1.4 metres, a displacement of 82 tonnes, and space for 130 passengers plus three crewmembers. A 1,139kWh battery pack will drive two 600kW motors to deliver a maximum speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots.
Construction of the ferry will be undertaken in compliance with Russian Classification Society rules.
