Russian transport company Neva Travel will operate on two new ferry routes within the city of Saint Petersburg beginning later this month.
The new routes will include stops at Peterhof Palace and the town of Kronstadt. Starting on April 26, these will be served by Neva Travel's Project 04580 high-speed catamarans, which may be operated as both commuter ferries and tourist shuttles.
The company will also offer a new service wherein tourists will be transferred from the Saint Petersburg city centre to Kronstadt via high-speed ferry. Upon arrival in Kronstadt, the passengers will take another ferry on a sightseeing excursion around town's famed island forts.
The Project 04580 catamarans' low height will enable them to safely pass underneath bridges while the configuration of the hull will generate only minimal wake. The design also means existing jetty infrastructure need not undergo additional modifications just to accommodate the vessels.
The Project 04580 catamarans are being operated by Neva Travel on behalf of State Transport Leasing Company.
