Celebrity Cruises to invest $250m in ship modernisation

Gareth Havelock

Celebrity Cruises is investing more than US$250 million to modernise five of its existing 122,000GT ships.

The upgrades on each ship will include four new spaces, redesigned outdoor areas with enhanced views, new restaurants and entertainment venues, new stateroom categories, and ship-wide stateroom enhancements.

Celebrity Solstice will be the first of of her class to undergo the modernisation, which is scheduled to be completed before March 2026.

Each stateroom will be updated with spa-inspired elements such as massaging shower heads and aromatherapy diffusers. Selected guests will also be able to enjoy complimentary access to an all-new relaxation lounge.

The ship's top deck will be rebuilt into a half-acre outdoor park that will also feature spaces for lawn games, open-air concerts, dining, and cocktails.

The ship will also feature a new sports bar with multiple screens, billiard tables, and dart boards.

Following the modernisation, Celebrity Solstice will serve itineraries in Alaska, Hawaii, Fiji, and Southeast Asia. A 110-night itinerary through more than 55 unrepeated ports is scheduled for September to December 2026.
