Wind farm support vessel ‘Acta Orion’ leaves Poland

Valentine Watkins

After a year of construction by CIG Shipbuilding, the wind farm support vessel 'Acta Orion' has left Poland and arrived in the Netherlands to undergo its final construction phase.

CIG Shipbuilding has been working on the construction of the hull, steelwork, piping, cable pulling, isolating and painting at its shipyard in the Polish coastal city of Stettin.

The ship has transformed into an Acta Marine vessel, wearing the company colors, name and logo. The DP2 vessel – with measurements of 108 metres long and 16 metres wide – offers a huge inside space with luxury cabins including ensuite bathrooms, galley, mess room, offices, cinema and more.

Once in the Netherlands, the outfitting will be carried on at the quay in front of the original Van Stee office. Here the ship will be dry-docked for a short period, so that the aft thrusters can be installed. The 'Acta Orion' will be delivered during autumn 2015.
