UK-based offshore wind crew transfer provider Tidal Transit recently christened its newest crewboat.
Anthea Luna was delivered to her new owner in March and has already commenced work on her inaugural contract with Belgian offshore wind farm operator C-Power.
The crewboat will provide essential service and maintenance support for the Thornton Bank offshore wind farm. Situated 30 kilometres off the Belgian coast, Thornton Bank was Belgium's first wind farm to enter operations and consists of 54 wind turbines generating 325 MW.
C-Power expects the wind farm will generate 1,000 GWh of energy each year, enough to supply power for 300,000 Belgian households.
"To help maintain such an important site, we needed a solution [that] offered the highest levels of reliability, durability, transferability and fuel efficiency," said Stijn Deprez, Asset and Contract Manager of C-Power.
"Anthea Luna offers all this and more. We are confident that she'll play an integral role supporting our operational challenges we face especially in our unique in-house maintenance set-up."
Tailored to suit C-Power’s specific requirements, Anthea Luna was designed to ensure high fuel efficiency and durability to accommodate the Thornton Bank wind farm's distance from the shore.
The crewboat's hull design and onboard systems meanwhile ensure that she can be retrofitted with an electric propulsion system in the future.
