ScottishPower Renewables has entered into charter agreements worth more than £16 million (US$21 million) in total with Caister-based NR Marine Services and Great Yarmouth-based OEG Offshore for the provision of vessels to support the construction of its East Anglia Three offshore wind farm, which will come into operation next year.
The vessels will bed operated out of the port of Lowestoft.
NR Marine Services will provide the crewboats NR Rebellion (pictured) and NR Hunter. NR Rebellion will commence operations in April while NR Hunter will follow later in the year.
OEG will provide the support vessel Tess, which will carry out guard operations at the windfarm site.
East Anglia Three will be ScottishPower Renewables’ largest offshore windfarm – and the second largest in the world – when it comes into operation in 2026. The company said it will be able to produce 1.4 GW of renewable energy, which will be enough to power the equivalent of more than 1.3 million homes.
