Danish operator Esvagt has taken delivery of a new windfarm support crewboat designed by OSK Design and built by Hvide Sande Shipyard (HSS).
Esvagt Wind 52 has completed undergoing testing and will soon begin operating in support of the Hornsea offshore wind farms in UK waters.
The vessel will be used to transfer technicians, move cargo and spare parts, and transport supplies and personnel to shore. HSS said it will be able to transfer cargo and technicians in rougher seas compared to earlier crewboats, which will expand the potential of using the boat even more.
Technicians will spend more time on board, so the boat is equipped for more difficult weather conditions without causing seasickness. It features a stabiliser and an interceptor system to reduce motion both at rest and underway, thus greatly improving the comfort on board.
HSS said the new crewboat was designed for use at the Hornsea wind farms. In addition to traditional boat landings, it also supports the GUS system, which hoists technicians directly onto the turbine platform.
