Tebma Shipyard has completed the sea trials of the geo-technical research vessel 'Fugro Scout' at its shipyard at Malpe in India.
The vessel was handed over to the geo-tech research company Fugro, and the vessel is heading to Vietnam for its maiden assignment.'Fugro Scout' is a mini-drill ship capable of drawing soil samples up to three kilometers below the seabed.
The vessel is powered by diesel electrical propulsion systems driven by active front end drives for fuel efficiency. It is equipped with a redundant dynamic positioning station-holding capability (DP 2) for fail safe operation and is built to comfort class COMF-V (3) standards with quarters for up to 60 personnel.
The navigation bridge is ergonomically designed over a centrally located moon pool, and the vessel has automated pipe and tool handling equipment for safe drilling floor operations and for seabed sampling and testing. A large soil laboratory provides a unique open-plan working environment for geo-technicians.
