SKILLED Group buys out OMSA

SKILLED acquired Darwin-based Broadsword Marine in 2013

SKILLED Group has announced a full 100 per cent acquisition of the Offshore Marine Services Alliance joint venture (OMSA).

The company will purchase the 50 per cent interest currently held by PB Sea-Tow Holdings for $6.9 million. SKILLED will then combine OMSA with its Broadsword Marine subsidiary, which it acquired in mid-2013.

In a filing on the ASX stock exchange, the company said it wished to create, "a single marine services business with broad operational and project capability".

Commenting on the acquisition, SKILLED's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mick McMahon, said there remained an attractive pipeline of operational and project opportunities in the offshore market, with the combination of OMSA and Broadsword well-positioned to capitalise on such opportunities.

Recently, OMSA was awarded new work within its existing Gorgon Project contract.
