Sembcorp Marine President and CEO retires

Singapore: The Sembcorp Marine Group's Board of Directors has announced several key executive changes which will take place with effect from May 1.

Sembcorp said that the changes were part of the group's leadership renewal process.

Tan Kwi Kin, the current group President and CEO will relinquish his roles upon his retirement. He will be appointed Senior Advisor in Sembcorp Marine and remains as a director of the Sembcorp Marine Board.

Wong Weng Sun, the current President and COO will be appointed the President and CEO of Sembcorp Marine and a director of the Sembcorp Marine Board.

Mr Wong joined the shipyard as an engineer in 1988. Prior to his new appointment, Mr Wong was the President and COO of Sembcorp Marine and served as Deputy President from January 2002 to June 2004.

"The economic conditions ahead of us are challenging," said Mr Tan, "Having witnessed and weathered several economic down-cycles since joining the company 43 years ago, I believe Sembcorp Marine has proven its resilience [and] adaptability. I am confident that Weng Sun will sustain the Group's growth momentum during these challenging times."
