Italian cable installation company Prysmian has entered into a seven-year framework agreement with N-Sea, a Netherlands-based integrated subsea solutions service provider, for rapid response maintenance and repair of submarine cables.
The service offering will complement Prysmian’s proprietary monitoring solutions and its overall inspection, maintenance and repair capabilities.
The agreement addresses the recent request of the European Commission for solutions that will ensure the safety of critical energy and telecommunications infrastructure.
Under the terms of the agreement, there will be dedicated engineering services, a specialised vessel, and squalified high voltage jointers ready to intervene.
Prysmian said this agreement will ensure that its customers and the general public will benefit from enhanced energy security and that it will include incident prevention, detection, response, and reinstatement.
Prysmian is the latest subsea installation company to offer enhanced cable protection service in the wake of recent incidents in Europe and Asia wherein cables were alleged to have been deliberately severed by passing vessels.
