Norwegian shipyard Ulstein Verft will soon commence final outfitting on a new commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) ordered by German shipowner Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BS Offshore).
The hull of the CSOV was built by Crist Shipyard in Poland. It arrived at Ulstein Verft on Tuesday, March 11.
The vessel is a sister of an earlier CSOV, which was launched at Ulstein Verft on February 23.
The CSOV features Ulstein's proprietary twin-stern design with main propellers located fore and aft. The twin-stern solution has a characteristic hull shape that reduces resistance and motions, making the vessel exceptionally swift and able to perform walk-to-work operations in an efficient manner.
The key equipment will include a 3D-compensated crane and a walk-to-work gangway to ensure safe and efficient transfers of personnel and cargo to offshore wind turbines.
Ulstein said the CSOV's diesel-electric propulsion system and substantial battery energy storage significantly reduce its environmental footprint in addition to preparing the vessel for methanol as fuel.
The vessel will also offer modern, high-comfort accommodation for up to 132 crewmembers and clients.
The CSOV is scheduled for delivery to BS Offshore later this year.
