Dutch offshore vessel operator Glomar and C-Job Naval Architects have unveiled a concept design for a new offshore support vessel (OSV).
The vessel will be capable of undertaking a range of duties including subsea inspections, cable trenching, and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) support.
The OSV will measure nearly 80 metres long and will be fitted with a DP2 system, an ice class hull, an ROV hangar, a moonpool, a large crane, and dedicated trencher deck space.
One- and two-person cabins will be available for up to 60 personnel. Other crew facilities will include a gym, a sauna, and a lounge.
Power for the vessel will be provided by dual-fuel engines that can be configured in the future to run on methanol in addition to MGO. The propulsion arrangement will also include a battery pack.
The OSV was developed to reduce operators' reliance on multiple platforms capable of performing only a limited selection of duties.
