Norwegian shipyard Ulstein Verft has floated out a new commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) ordered by German shipowner Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BS Offshore).
The CSOV features Ulstein's proprietary twin-stern design with main propellers located fore and aft. The twin-stern solution has a characteristic hull shape that reduces resistance and motions, making the vessel exceptionally swift and able to perform walk-to-work operations in an efficient manner.
The key equipment will include a 3D-compensated crane and a walk-to-work gangway to ensure safe and efficient transfers of personnel and cargo to offshore wind turbines.
Ulstein said the CSOV's diesel-electric propulsion system and substantial battery energy storage significantly reduce its environmental footprint in addition to preparing the vessel for methanol as fuel.
The vessel will also offer modern, high-comfort accommodation for up to 132 crewmembers and clients.
The vessel is planned for delivery to BS Offshore in the second quarter of 2025 following completion of sea trials.
