The keel laying ceremony for Cyan Renewables' new offshore support vessel for operation with Siemens Gamesa took place on January 10 at Vard's Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam, marking the start of the vessel’s construction.

Cyan said construction progress on the vessel is now underway and already ahead of schedule, with the vessel set to enter a long-term contract on Siemens Gamesa’s offshore wind project, Hai Long Offshore Wind Project.

"This vessel represents a key step in strengthening our offshore wind operations in the region, enabling us to deliver efficient, safe and sustainable service to Hai Long Offshore Wind Project," commented John Colyer, Head of Service Operation Offshore Asia-Pacific for Siemens Gamesa.

"We are delivering this through a [vessel] design which is a highly versatile platform, offering class-leading station keeping performance, further improved fuel-efficient solutions and logistics,” added Runar Vågnes, SVP Sales and Marketing at Vard.

With construction on the newbuild progressing at an accelerated pace, the vessel is on track to be delivered by Q2 2026.
