Technip has recently named its newest chartered subsea construction vessel, the 'North Sea Atlantic', at a ceremony in Bergen, Norway.
Technip had signed a long term charter agreement with shipowner North Sea Shipping for an advanced construction vessel in 2012.
Designed to Technip's specifications, this multi-purpose vessel is capable of undertaking pipelay, subsea construction and inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) projects.
Although the 'North Sea Atlantic' will work predominantly in the North Sea, she is also suitable for deep-water operations worldwide.
Featuring DP3 dynamic positioning, the vessel is equipped with a 550-tonne active heave-compensated crane and a 2,000-tonne underdeck carousel for product storage. The vessel can also accommodate an openable vertical lay system for pipelay of flexibles and umbilicals.
Following final commissioning and trials, the 'North Sea Atlantic' is scheduled to commence her first projects working in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea from August, followed by projects in the United Kingdom sector of the North Sea.
