Casco contracts Ulstein for accommodation vessel

Valentine Watkins

Ulstein Sea of Solutions (USOS) has been awarded the design contract for the 'CASCO Enabler', a high specification monohull accommodation vessel.

The vessel, ordered by accommodation vessel operator CASCO Offshore, marks the formal entrance of Ulstein into the accommodation work boat market.

The vessel will measure 144.6 metres in length overall, with a beam of 33 metres and a depth to main deck of 18.9 metres. Its operating draught will be up to seven metres and it will have a service speed of 12 knots.

Powered by six 4,750kW engines, the vessel will be constructed to DNV and comfort class notation, and will feature DP-3 dynamic positioning. It will accommodate 800 persons, with particular attention paid to the comfort and arrangement of the accommodation facilities.

According to Ulstein Sea of solutions, the vessel will optimise the work and home environments on board the vessel, and will feature isolated accommodation, common areas and work areas. A freestanding funnel stack arranged completely away from the accommodation facilities will reduce structural noise levels and increase comfort.

The vessel will also be equipped with a telescopic gangway, an offshore crane with a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes (upgradeable to 500 tonnes), and FiFi 1 fire fighting. She will be delivered in Q4 2016.
