The US Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District obligated US$878.7 million during FY2026.

The work involved dredging 3.67 million cubic yards (2.81 million cubic metres) of material at seven navigation locations in California.

The district also reported completing 21 projects and carrying out 658 contract actions over the course of the fiscal year.

The dredging took place at Ventura, Newport, Oceanside, Morro Bay, Santa Barbara, Channel Islands and Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach. The district said the work supports navigation channels and coastal communities, while facilitating commercial activity at sea and access for the military.

Civil works obligations totalled US$331.2 million, alongside 716 regulatory permit actions.

The district awarded major contracts for future work at Prado Dam and Whittier Narrows Dam. It also secured approval to carry out phase four of the Rio de Flag Flood Risk Management project in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The Prado Dam contract, announced in March, is valued at approximately US$1.13 billion. The Whittier Narrows Dam Safety contract is worth more than US$735 million. Significant construction on both is expected to begin in 2027, with completion anticipated by 2033.

The district's Military Program, Interagency and International Services, and Environmental missions accounted for US$547.5 million. This included US$446.9 million for military construction across 15 installations in Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada.

Channel Islands Harbor is scheduled for a separate dredging cycle from November 2026 through February 2027. This will be the third consecutive year of dredging at the harbour, which is then expected to return to a biennial schedule.
