UK Dredging takes delivery of new water injection dredger

New UKD Seadragon to boost operational efficiency and reduce emissions

UK Dredging (UKD), which operates the largest British-owned dredging fleet, has welcomed the newbuild water injection dredger UKD Seadragon.

The addition of a water injection dredger to UKD’s fleet will allow it to extend intervals between hopper dredging operations, enhancing operational efficiency.

Unlike conventional submersible jets, the Seadragon is equipped with a fully electric dredge pump with a capacity of 4,000m³/h.

The vessel's hull was also optimised for its specialised role, and it features a diesel-electric propulsion system.

Seadragon is also fitted with an A-frame for added versatility. When not in use, the A-frame tilts to allow the WID skid to be securely stored on the vessel’s aft deck.

“We are eagerly anticipating the UKD Seadragon joining our fleet. This advanced vessel will allow us to offer our clients a new and complementary dredging service, enhancing the comprehensive solutions we provide to the market," said Mark Pearson, General Manager UKD.

“Its state-of-the-art diesel-electric propulsion and power management system optimise engine efficiency, significantly reducing emissions."
