Stroyliderplus has started construction in Astrakhan of a Project FPDR1 non-self-propelled multi-bucket hopper dredger for Vodohod Passenger Port. The project was announced on Monday, September 14.
The vessel is designed to dredge heavy cohesive and non-cohesive soils in categories I–V. Flotproekt, the design bureau within the Stroyliderplus group, developed the FPDR1 project.
The dredger will have an overall length of 51.5 metres and a beam of 12.2 metres. Its midship side height will be 3.0 metres.
Published specifications list two 350-kilowatt engine units and accommodation for 28 people. The vessel will carry enough fuel for 10 days of operation.
The design carries the Russian Classification Register notation O2,0 (ice 10) A. The vessel’s name and planned delivery date have not been published.
A Stroyliderplus specification matching the new vessel’s dimensions and power figures gives a minimum dredging depth of 2.0 metres and a maximum of 7.0 metres.
The non-self-propelled dredger cannot transit independently. No production rate has been disclosed for the Vodohod order, and the company has not identified its planned deployment location.
Vodohod Passenger Port operates excursion, high-speed and electric-powered passenger vessels across six Russian regions. The company lists 54 vessels in its fleet, including 41 electric-powered craft, and reported carrying more than two million passengers in 2025.
Stroyliderplus was building 10 technical-fleet vessels in Astrakhan in early 2024. The program covered multi-bucket and cutter-suction dredgers, tugs and hopper barges, including two FPDR1 vessels for a separate Kazakhstan order.
“We began building a dredging fleet because it is in demand in the Caspian region, and the volume of dredging work is constantly increasing,” Flotproekt general director Andrey Ozernykh said at the time.
The first vessel from the Kazakhstan series, Irtysh-2503, was launched in Astrakhan on April 8, 2026. It shares the new dredger’s principal dimensions and two 350-kilowatt engine units but belongs to a separate construction program.
Construction of Irtysh-2503 was completed in July. Its published output is 250 cubic metres per hour, with intended work including river-material extraction and maintenance dredging of waterways, channels and berth approaches.
