China: The Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) and DNV have signed a strategic partnership agreement to establish the SMU-DNV International Cooperation Centre.
The President of Shanghai Maritime University, Yu Shicheng, and DNV Vice President and Regional Manager for Greater China, Jörg Beiler, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties.
According to the strategic partnership agreement, Shanghai Maritime University and DNV will use the SMU-DNV International Cooperation Centre as a platform to strengthen cooperation in the areas of competence development, training, maritime research and development, scholarships, etc, thus contributing to the growth of the Shanghai International Shipping Centre.
At the ceremony, Mr Beiler was also appointed visiting professor of SMU by Mr Yu.
Shanghai Maritime University President Yu Shicheng said at the ceremony:
"I believe the establishment of a strategic partnership between us will not only help both parties to expand and deepen their established cooperation but also support the development of the Shanghai International Shipping Centre," said Mr Belier.
