The Port of Aalborg, Denmark, also referred to as the Nordic Transport Centre, has recently ordered a G HMK 7608 B Mobile Harbour Crane, a variant of Model 7 in the current Generation 5 series, from Gottwald Port Technology for handling bulk materials, containers and general cargo.
This four-rope crane has a 50-tonne grab curve, is classified as A8, and has a maximum lifting capacity of 140 tonnes with a maximum radius of 51 metres.
The Port of Allborg will use this diesel-electric crane for professional, heavy-duty bulk handling and to move containers and project cargoes such as components for wind turbines weighing up to 140 tonnes.
It is suitable for handling bulk materials alongside vessels up to Capesize or moving containers to and from post-Panamax ships and, dependent on terminal and operating conditions, achieves handling rates of up to 1,500 tonnes per hour.
As was the case with the previous cranes delivered to Denmark, this one is being
manufactured in Düsseldorf, Germany. It will enter active service in November 2009 in the north Jutland Port of Aalborg, the gateway to the North Atlantic and Greenland.
