Rolls-Royce Power Systems has unveiled the latest marine genset carrying the MTU brand at the DIMDEX maritime defence exhibition in Qatar.
Based on a six-cylinder Series 1600 inline engine delivering up to 323kW, the genset is compliant with IMO Tier II and EPA Tier 3 regulations. The marine engine version is configured for on-board power generation and is derived from the robust and cost-efficient Series 1600 unit used for power generation on land.
The genset engine is also highly versatile, and meets classification society regulations in the commercial segment, as well as civil and military applications with respect to acoustics, shock and magnetic signature.
