Clean technology engineering company, WE Tech Solutions has ordered a permanent magnet (PM) shaft generator for an LNG carrier from The Switch, a Finnish manufacturer of megawatt-class PM machines for marine drive trains.
The order is part of a complete energy efficiency system being delivered by WE Tech of Finland to Saga LNG Shipping.
The LNG carrier will be built by China Merchants Heavy Industry and have 45,000 cubic metres of cargo capacity. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in October 2016.
The PM shaft generator can operate over the full main engine speed range while generating electricity for the vessel's electrical network with high efficiency using the active front-end low harmonic drive technology of WE Drive from WE Tech.
