Fisheries Research Services (FRS) has recently awarded Reson Aberdeen the contract to deliver a fully integrated multi-beam sonar system to be installed on their vessel 'Scotia'.
The RESON SeaBat 7125 Sonar System operates with a dual frequency of 200kHz or 400kHz with an effective swath angle of 128 degrees and a very high resolution of down to 5mm due to its beam forming capabilities of 0.5 degrees by one degree.
The depth range is 300 metres and is thus ideal for the Scottish part of the North Sea and the Atlantic. Combined with the Reson PDS2000 acquisition software and Applanix POS MV Wavemaster navigation package this is an effective way to obtain high resolution seabed data.
Reson software PDS2000 will acquire all the data on monitors and update the models for the fishery research operation.
Both system installation and calibration will be preformed by Reson and local engineers in April 2009.
