Norwegian aquaculture group, Akva, has launched the brand new wireless CAP (Cage Access Point) which provides on-cage connections of cameras, winches, environmental sensors and pellet sensors.

The new CAP comes in a rugged and sealed housing with an integrated battery and power supply compartment.

"The CAP combines all the functionality of our previous standalone access systems into one all-in-one device," said group's CMO, Trond Severinsen.

"We have also added new features such as more powerful transmitters, external channel selection, directional antennas, and a 360 degree adjustable surface camera for added surveillance security".

The group has also introduced the new SmartEye 360 Twin, an underwater camera which incorporates two fully synchronised cameras. This allows for a full 360 degree vertical movement using only one joystick.

"The 360 Twin camera offers horizontal and vertical movement with no external moving parts," said Mr Severinsen.

"This will not only provide accurate and detailed cage control, but will also increase the durability and lifespan of the camera."

The standard configuration includes an upper camera in high resolution colour, as well as a lower camera in high resolution black and white. The black and white camera is light sensitive to comply with the conditions in the deep and dark cages.
