The Russian Federal Fishing Agency has said that they would assist fishermen with building new modern ships.
The Head of the Federal Fishing Agency, Andrey Krajny said that the state would subsidise two-thirds the rate of newbuild prices.
"The state should help the fishermen with building and acquiring new modern ships, understanding that in the conditions of the world financial and economic crisis, they do not have enough money for these purposes. Credit resources are very hard to get and they are very expensive," said Mr Krajny.
He added that the vessels would be built in Russia and suggested that Kaliningrad could become a centre of shipbuilding for fishing boats.
