New trawler for Brittany fishing company floated out

Baird Maritime

French shipbuilder Socarenam has floated out a new trawler ordered by Brittany fishing company Armement Porcher.

Semillante is a sister of Aventurine, which was delivered to Armement Porcher in 2023. The vessel has a steel hull, an aluminium superstructure, an LOA of 26 metres, a beam of eight metres, and space for up to seven crewmembers.

The propulsion arrangement will include a Caterpillar 3512C diesel engine driving a France Helices controllable-pitch propeller and a Hydro-Armor bow thruster. The propulsion will deliver a speed of approximately 10 knots.

Catch will be sorted with the aid of a conveyor before being kept in a fish hold with a total capacity of 110 cubic metres. Also fitted are Bopp trawls, seven winches, and an anti-roll tank on the wheelhouse.

The accommodation spaces benefit from reinforced sound insulation and include cabins and sanitary facilities. The interior spaces are laid out to also allow female crewmembers on board in the future.

Semillante will then undergo sea trials. Following delivery, the vessel will be operated in the western portion of the English Channel and the Irish Sea.
