Russian naval architecture firm Stapel recently unveiled design images of a new catamaran workboat that will support operations at oyster and mussel farms in both coastal and inland waters.
Each vessel under the Project RDB 75.01 series will have a length of 19.8 metres, a beam of 7.5 metres, a depth of 2.9 metres, a maximum displacement of 93.3 tonnes, and space for two crewmembers and up to 10 additional personnel.
Two 176kW main engines will drive propellers to deliver a service speed of nine knots in calm water.
A separate diesel engine will drive a hydraulic power unit connected to the vessel's three-ton crane and other deck machinery.
Onboard facilities will include cabins for the crew and client representatives.
The vessel is classed by the Russian Classification Society. Stapel said the design will permit operation in wave heights of up to 1.8 metres at a distance of no more than 22 kilometres from shore even in temperatures as low as negative five degrees Celsius in ice-free areas.
