Norwegian autonomous system company Remora Robotics has raised NOK164 million ($16 million) in a funding round to accelerate the rollout of its autonomous cleaning robot for the aquaculture industry. The funding round was led by Hatch Blue with strong participation from existing shareholders such as Grieg Kapital, the company said.
The company's solution combines automated net cleaning with Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered net inspection. Remora Robotics stated that the technology supports fish health by maintaining cleaner nets, which improves biosecurity and reduces mortality.
Svein Erik Gregersen, CEO of Remora Robotics, added that the new funding gives the company the opportunity to further develop its platform.
The company reported that it has seen a commercial breakthrough over the past twelve months, with much of its production capacity for the next six months already sold out. Remora plans to unveil a new software platform for continuous pen monitoring, including AI-driven net integrity inspection, in August.
