Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) will begin repairs to the two public boat ramps in Urangan Boat Harbour on Monday, May 12.
The works, which MSQ expects will improve usability and safety for boaters while extending the life of the ramps, should be completed within a week, weather permitting.
Contractors completing the work for MSQ will ensure launching and retrieving access is retained for boaters at one of the ramps while the other is being worked on. Boaters are advised to use extra caution around the worksite and closely follow all directions from the contractor’s site supervisor.
The works will see loose rock and obstructions cleared from the surface of the two boat ramps, and the checking and repairing of any sudden drop-offs adjacent to the ramps to ensure vehicle and user safety near the ramp edges.
Grout-filled mattresses will be installed to ensure that loose rock does not end up on the ramp surfaces in future. MSQ said this will better protect the ramps against scour.
