Exemption 28 allows owners of grandfathered Class 1 vessels to choose whether to comply with the crewing requirements in NSCV Part E (number of crew) or the grandfathered crewing requirements that applied to the vessel on June 30, 2013.
This exemption has now been been extended until December 31, 2017. The extension allows for crewing requirements to be incorporated into Marine Order 504 (certificates of operation).
