Work Boat World Offshore Vessel Charters Roundup – August 12, 2021

It’s a rare all-Norwegian roundup in this succession of recently awarded offshore vessel charters. Interestingly, in addition to being tapped for work close to home, Norwegian-owned OSVs has also been securing new contracts in the Brazilian oil and gas market.

Island Offshore secures SOV work for Equinor

Island Offshore has been awarded a contract for service operation vessel (SOV) services by Equinor for the Hywind Tampen floating wind farm project in Norway.

The contract will be served by the walk-to-work vessel Island Diligence, with commencement during the second quarter of 2022. The work has a firm period of four months plus options to extend.

Once completed, the 88MW Hywind Tampen project will be the world’s first floating wind farm to power offshore oil and gas platforms.

DOF Brazilian subsidiary awarded new contracts

DOF’s Brazilian subsidiary Norskan has been awarded two contracts.

The first is for the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Skandi Paraty, which will serve under a one-year contract extension with Petrobras until July 2022.

The platform supply vessel (PSV) Skandi Iguacu will meanwhile be on-hire with Equinor on a spot contract utilisation throughout August 2021.

Eidesvik CSV to support Havfram’s activities

Havfram has awarded Eidesvik Offshore a contract for the charter of the construction support vessel (CSV) Viking Neptun.

The contract will commence in early January 2022 and will be firm towards the end of the third quarter of 2022. In addition, Havfram has been granted options for further extension.

Floatel platform tapped for FPSO maintenance and safety services in Brazil

Floatel International has been awarded a contract by Equinor Brasil Energia for the accommodation platform Floatel Victory to provide maintenance and safety unit (MSU) services alongside the Peregrino floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit offshore Brazil.

The charter of the MSU is for six months with an expected commencement date on-site in the third quarter 2021.
Equinor has options to extend the charter after the firm period.

Solstad CSV trio bad new contracts, extensions

Prysmian Powerlink has exercised its option to extend the charter of the Solstad Offshore CSV Normand Pacific by another year.

The charter, which commenced in August 2016, is now firm until December 31, 2022. Prysmian has the option to extend the charter by up to two additional years.

Meanwhile, the CSV Normand Flower has secured a new contract for work with Petrobras commencing in April 2022. The vessel will support exploration and production activities on the Brazilian continental shelf for a firm period of three years plus options totalling 475 days.

Lastly, the CSV Normand Jarstein will operate on charter with DeepOcean for a firm period beginning in Q1 2022 and ending in Q4 2023.

The vessel will support DeepOcean’s IMR, light construction, offshore renewables, and recycling projects.

DeepOcean also has an option to extend the contract until the end of 2024.
