AG&P proposes small LNG carrier for the Southeast Asian market

Philippine construction firm Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific (AG&P) recently unveiled a design for a small, 'ultra-shallow draught' LNG carrier optimised for use in Southeast Asia's rivers and harbours that has a draught of just two metres.

Mr Derek Thomas, head of AG&P's Advanced Research Unit, discussed the viability of the proposed vessel in transporting small volumes of LNG over short distances at the 4th Annual Gas Asia Summit in Singapore on Wednesday, October 26.

LNG-fuelled tanker delivered to Terntank


The ‘Ternsund’, a 15,000DWT tanker built in China, has been delivered to Denmark’s Terntank Rederi.

‘Ternsund’ is an IMO Type 2 oil/chemical tanker able to carry nine grades of cargo in 16 different tanks. It will operate in North European waters under charter to a Finnish company.

Eco-friendly tanker ‘Constitution’ christened and launched

General Dynamics NASSCO has christened and launched the Constitution, the sixth ship in a series of eight eco-friendly tankers being built at the company’s San Diego, USA shipyard.

The Constitution is a 180-metre, 50,000DWT, LNG-conversion-ready product tanker with a 330,000-barrel cargo capacity.

Second MEGI-type LNG carrier delivered

A second M-type, electronically controlled, gas injection (MEGI) LNG carrier, the ‘Oak Spirit’, has been delivered to Cheniere Energy.  

The ‘Oak Spirit’ joined its sister vessel, the ‘Creole Spirit’, at the beginning of August.

Gener8 Maritime receives the ‘Gener8 Chiotis’

Gener8 Maritime has taken delivery of an ECO VLCC, the ‘Gener8 Chiotis’ from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.

The 333-metre ‘Chiotis’ is the 12th of 21 ECO VLCCs expected to be delivered into Gener8 Maritime's fleet.
