By Philip Dawson & Bruce Peter

From Baird Maritime:

The passenger vessel industry can be a very competitive business. Cruise ships, liners and overnight ferries tend to be largely patronised by middle class people.

These people, particularly, the female of the species, tend to have high expectations of the levels of comfort and service they will enjoy when on vacation. This applies to hotels, resorts and ships in equal measure.

This expectation has inspired the high standards of design and fit out we have become used to in passenger vessels over the past century or so. Indeed, many ship interiors have been very lavish.

This equally lavishly produced book explains very clearly, thanks to its many excellent photographs, how this theme has developed. An excellent record of an important facet of ship design.
