One person is reportedly dead and another six missing after a fishing boat collided with a cargo vessel in China’s southeastern Fujian province.

According to the China Daily, the collision occurred early Wednesday morning (February 3) and the dead individual had failed to respond to treatment.

The dead mariner was identified as Lin Chenglian, aged 44.

The fishing boat was reportedly carrying ten people and the news report added that a total of 14 ships were searching for the missing people.

Chinese press reports did not say how the collision occurred, if an investigation would be launched, if insurers would make claims, if there was an oil spill or if regular updates would be given to local and the international media.

It was however reported that the fishing boat was registered in Fujian and that the cargo vessel was registered in the neighbouring Zhejiang Province.
