Brodosplit Shipyard in Croatia launched the third of four, twin-engined P-MAX tankers for Swedish owner, Concordia Maritime, at the end of 2009. These tankers, built in accordance with the MAX concept, are characterised by good economy, high flexibility and a high level of safety. Their wider hull design means that they can load about 30 percent more cargo than a standard tanker with the same draught at little extra cost.
Brodosplit and Concordia created the P-MAX concept for vessels intended for transportation of oil and oil products with unlimited international sail which includes sailing in ice waters. Ships that carry the mark “MAX” are wider the others in same class, but with the same draught, two separate engine rooms, two engines with individual supply system, two propellers and two rudders, in order to load more cargo without velocity or manoeuvring abilities loss. After the launching ceremony, the shipyard held a keel laying ceremony for Hull Number 469, a juice carrier contracted with North Sea Reefer Enterprise of Panama. |
