German cruise company files for insolvency PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 30 June 2009 01:39

Germany: Neustadt-based cruise company Peter Deilmann Reederi has started insolvency procedures. The company, which operates both river cruises and ocean-going cruises, filed for insolvency at the Amtsgericht Lubeck court on June 25.

River cruise operations will cease by December 2009. The company owns a fleet of eight river cruise ships. Two vessels were laid up before the start of the cruise season and there are plans to dispose of three ships, ‘Casanova’, ‘Mozart’ and ‘Cezanne’. The company’s river cruise sector employs 250 people.

Its ocean-going cruise vessel ‘Deutschland’ will not be affected, however plans for a second cruise ship have been scrapped.
