From Baird Maritime

About this kind of history it can well be said: “Better late than never”.

Even nearly seventy years after the events these books describe occurred we are, thankfully, still being presented with such excellent histories as this one.

Probably because they are less glamorous than battleships, aircraft carriers, submarines and MTBs, converted trawlers have waited a long time for their vital wartime role to be recognised. The authors of this book have done a fine job of balancing that ledger.

And what a job was done by the Royal Naval Patrol Service, an impressively effective force. The mainly former fishermen who comprised its officers and men made up for inadequate equipment with impressive bravery, cleverness and guile.

Their contribution was very significant. This book records, recognises and values that contribution very effectively.
