Author: Erskine Childers
Publisher: Adlard Coles Nautical
From Baird Maritime Even after 108 years since it was first published, this is still one of the very best books of the sea. Indeed, the English newspaper “The Observer” ranks it as the 37th greatest book ever written. The Riddle of the Sands is a book to be read and re-read at least three times in an average mariner’s lifetime. It really is that good. Furthermore, while the tale itself is brilliant, the life of its author was equally fascinating. Well worth learning about. This is a special edition of the classic that has been re-presented to appeal specifically to sailors. It includes some evocative black and white photographs and some useful charts describing the area around the Frisian Islands where the story is set. It’s very well done in the usual Adlard Coles Nautical manner. Ordering information: Adlard Coles Nautical London, UK Web: www.adlardcoles.com
