‘Queen Silvia’ set to ply the Neckar

After two years of planning and eight months of construction the 59-metre long, 11-metre beam vessel MS Queen Silvia was christened on May 7, 2016 and is now in service. Built to replace an ageing fleet Queen Silvia is the first new ship on the Neckar river, Germany, for 47 years.

River tour company Weisse Flotte Heidelberg commissioned the new passenger ship that is approved for 600 passengers and features wheelchair access to all decks. It is longer and wider than current passenger ships that work on the Neckar. Equipped with a performance stage, Queen Silvia will also be suitable for cultural events.
